Meenakshi Thapar was a Bollywood actress who made her debut in the 2011 horror film 404. Thapa, a budding Bollywood actress, had been abducted on March 30.
The accused Amit Jaiswal, an actor who performed minor parts in movies, and Preeti Sarin apparently confessed to killing Thapa. She was reportedly kidnapped for ransom. The duo first befriended Thapa observing her high profile lifestyle and then brought her to Allahabad under the pretext of fixing a meeting with a Bhojpuri producer. Later, she was abducted by Jaiswal and Sarin, police said.
The offender, who have dabbled with some modelling projects as well, called up Thapa’s mother in Dehradun demanding Rs 1,50,000 as ransom to let her off. However, the parents could cough up only Rs 60,000. It was then that the duo chosen to get rid of Thapa, police stated.
She reportedly went missing from the location of the film Heroine. According to police, the duo strangled the actress after which severed her head from the body. They thrown out the torso in a septic tank in the Darbhanga Colony area of the city and the severed head in the Vindhyasani area over the Allahabad-Varanasi highway.
